Engines for caravan will be taken from the limousine. There will be several gasoline and diesel engines available. We recall, the new “3 series” sedan is offered with a four-cylinder petrol engine 320i which has 184 hp (135 kW), while a more powerful 330i has 258 hp (190 kW). The diesel option is also four-cylinder, 318d with 150 hp (110 kW) and 320d with 190 hp (140 kW). Initially, the only regular six-cylinder in the offer will be 330d with 265 hp (195 kW). It is also the only version of the new BMW 3 Series which will be available at the start of the sale with a 4-wheel drive.
Later, BMW will expand its range of powerful M340i, powered by a regular 6-cylinder 3.0 turbo petrol with 387 hp and 500 Nm. The plan is also a 330e plug-in hybrid.
Unlike Audi and Mercedes, which in their rival models offer the extreme sport variants of the RS4 Avant and C63 Estate, BMW is currently not planning a M version of the caravan of the new Series 3.
