In the photos below the text there is the announced S variant of the new Audi Q8, which was screened during testing in the final stage of development, completely without camouflage.
The strongest version of the Q8 has a plug-in hybrid powertrain as it is in the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid, which develops 671 horsepower.
However, this would make it more impressive than the Lamborghini Urus, and since both cars belong to the same VW group, they could represent each other’s competition.
The SQ8, which is said to have a “gentle” hybrid powertrain, consists of a V6 TFSI aggregate with a capacity of three liters that develops 443 horsepower and an electric motor that develops an additional 27 horsepower. Accordingly, the total output power of this model will be 469 “horses” and 700 Nm of torque.
It is reported that the SQ8 will also have an electric power system of 48 volts, consisting of a small lithium-ion battery installed underneath the trunk. It is expected that the V6 will also find a compressor next to the traditional turbocharger, something that we have already seen on the SQ7.
There are great chances that the SQ8 is also sold with the diesel engine aggregate from the SQ7, at least in Europe. The photo prototype has a TDI tag, but it may be a distraction only, not an indicator of what is covered under the hood.
As far as the outer design is concerned, the SQ8 will be distinguished from the standard Q8 by the aggressive design of the bumper with larger air intakes, smaller clearance and larger aluminum wheels.
The sporty style continues in the cockpit where a flat-bottomed steering wheel (D-shaped steering wheel), sport seats and slightly more colorful colors than the standard model are expected.
A little later, this hybrid petrol engine will also be found on other Audi models, among which are A6, A7, A8 and possibly the new Q7.
