The Ducati Panigale V4R was made for one single mission: to win the WSBK championship. For this reason, it has been waited until the last moment to decide which components will be used in and on a motorcycle. In order for Panigale V4R to pass approval, its price must be below 40,000 euros and by the end of the year Ducati must make at least 500 copies of the V4R. In Ducati they tried to make a technologically advanced motorcycle, and it is no surprise that the Panigale V4R shares many solutions with the Ducati motorcycle from the MotoGP championship. Since the aggregate volume of the 1.103 cm³ from the V4S model can not compete in the WSBK championship, Ducati had to make a V4R model to lower the working volume of 998 cm3の. The reduction in the working volume of the aggregate was done by reducing the piston stroke to 48.4 ミリメートル (V4S has stroke of 53.5 ミリメートル), while the piston diameter of 81 mm remained unchanged.
The internal components are also made of different materials. The pistons rods are made of titanium and each is lighter 100 grams compared to those used in the V4S model. Weight savings were also obtained using crankshafts of different materials. Crankshafts is lighter for 1.1kg. Ducati weight savings on almost every component contributed to the dry weight of the motorcycle at 172 Kg, and the total weight with all the fluids of 193 Kg.The electronic package that comes with the Panigale V4R model is quite long. According to the MotoGP motorcycle, the crankshafts rotate “reverse”, clockwise. The V4R has a declared power of 221 HP (162 KW) に 15,250 RPM and 112 NM at 11,500 RPM. The maximum revs are 16,000 RPM before engine hit blockade, and in the sixth gear the block is moved to 16,500 RPM. If 221 hp is not enough, with Akrapovich exhaust system the power can be increased to 234 馬力で 15,500 RPM. ザ・ 234 hp make the Panigale V4R the strongest serial motorcycle ever produced.
Ducati fans of dry clutch can breathe as the V4R will use a dry clutch instead of wet one. Although the V4R version presented at the EICMA fair had a wet clutch, the Ducati had recently changed his mind and put in a dry clutch. Like the MotoGP motorcycle, the Panigale V4R has aerodynamic wings that Ducati claims to be more efficient than those currently used in the MotoGP championship. Side wings have the role of mitigate lift up of the front wheel of the motorcycle during hard acceleration. Another purpose of the wings is to provide more load to the front at higher speeds, which contributes to better braking stability. Ducati reported that at the speed of 270 キロ / h the load that the wings produce to the front of the motorcycle is 30 Kg.
Regarding the chassis, the Panigale V4R has the option of adjusting the height of the rear fork. There are four levels of adjustment, and each step is separated from one another by 2 ミリメートル. The suspension on the Panigale V4R is adapted to the race track. The V4S semi-active electronic suspension is replaced with V4R fully mechanically adjustable. In front is the Öhlins NPX 25/30 front fork with a diameter of 43 ミリメートル. The NPX 25/30 uses an improved dip system that reduces the risk of oil cavitation and provides better absorbency, while maintaining excellent braking stability. The plunge on the NPX 25/30 is done in the left pole, and the return to the right. The NPX 25/30 front fork is 600 grams lighter than the front fork used by the V4S model. In the rear there is the Öhlins TTX36 mono-shock absorber, which is also mechanically adjustable. The steering stabilizer is switched from electronically to mechanical adjustment. Brembo discs with a diameter of 330 mm with radially mounted Brembo Monobloc Stylema® (M4.30) four-piston brake calipers are responsible for braking on front wheel. On rear wheel is a disc diameter of 245 mm with two-piston brake calipers. The complete braking system controls the Bosch Cornering ABS EVO system. All electronic devices are controlled by Bosch’s system that tracks all events in 6-axis.
Boch ABS EVO braking system that works even when the motorcycle is tilted. The system has the ability to adjust to three levels: the third level is most sensitive one, while the other two levels are adapted to the substrates with good adhesion. Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO is taken from the GP18 motorcycle. During driving, when the conditions on the track change, the traction control measures parameters (such as the oscillation of the dipping caused by the wear of the tire) and with this data “predicts” the percentage of tire wear and adjusts the delivery of power. When the sensitivity level 1 or 2 is selected, the DTC EVO system activates the slipping of the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The system allows the driver to use more throttle when the motorcycle is tilted. This system is designed for the reason that the driver will “rearrange” with rear wheel to help turn the motorcycle and go through the curve.
Of the other electronic gadgets, the Panigale V4R features Ducati Slide Control (DSC), Driving Control (DWC), Start Control (DPL). A quick shift gearbox with gear changes up and down without the use of a clutch has been improved and when changing the gear downwards while the motorcycle is tilted at the same time, the slipper clutch and EBC control are activated at the same time. This joint action allows the motorcycle to pass more easily through the curve. In general, インクルード
Panigale V4R has the ability to select three modes of operation. Race Riding Mode is adapted to run on the racetrack and frees all the potential of the motorcycle with minimal mixing of the traction control. Sport Riding mode is recommended for less experienced drivers on the race track. The system still allows maximum power, but slip control and slide controls are more sensitive and provide more safety in case the driver overloads with the addition of gas. Street Riding Mode is adapted to road rides. In this mode all electronic devices are more sensitive and take care to provide maximum security. In all modes ABS is on, with the Race Riding mode minimally active.
The TFT instrument panel is the same as the one on the V4S model, but it is adapted to display new features and a larger range of revs. The driver can select two display modes on the display. The first display is adapted to the racing track and the display shows the number of engine revs, and the time meter for the circle time. V4R also has a maximum speed limiter that is used when moving through the pit lane. The maximum speed that can be set at the limiter ranges from 40 に 80 キロ / 時間. The second display mode on the display is adapted to driving on the roads and in the city. In this mode, the number of revs is displayed in a slightly smaller format, while the time measurement per circle is replaced by the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) information. Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) allows the driver to accept phone calls, select music or receive a text message. Connecting to the DMS can be done via bluetooth.
Panigale V4R is the most technically advanced motorcycle on the market. It’s easy to say that the V4R is in principle a GP motorcycle version lowered to the level of a serial motorcycle. Ducati with this model wants to win the title in the WSBK class and to stop the dominance of Kawasaki. 今のところ, on the paper seems to be on the right track but only time can show will the new V4R justify great expectations.
Price of Panigale V4R will be about 39,000 euros.
