After numerous awards for the serial car design, the Japanese Mazda won the award for the “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” concept at the 33rd International Automobile Festival.
The triumph of the attractive vision coupe is not a surprise, since in recent years Mazda’s design team has been extremely active in promoting a visual identity. On that occasion, Global Design Director, Mr. Ikuo Maeda, received a prize at a ceremony in Paris along with a team which was responslible for designing the first-ranked silhouette. As the name itself says, “Vision Coupe” personifies the vision and direction of the new generation design. Also, the elegant four-door limousine defines the evolution of the famous KODO design, with the dedication to the past generations of coupes.
The harmonious and smooth proportions of the four-door limo, with the cab moved backwards, are in fact the characteristics of the classic coupe design, bringing a strong accent on forward-looking, typically for high-performance sports cars.
The simple “one click” form strongly expresses the impression of speed. At the same time, the interior uses the concept of traditional Japanese architecture to create a level of three-dimensional depth that creates a relaxed space. The result is, you will agree, impressive. We recall, Mazda won the same award two years ago with its stunning concept of “RX-Vision”.
